One week pottery holiday

in Capena

with Battista Rea (grandson) and

Rosina Wachtmeister.

From the end of April to the end of July

Have you ever thought about taking an Experiential or a Learning Holiday (or vacation as the Americans say)? RWL invites you to participate in an experiential or learning holiday where you get to create your own pottery and ceramics in a course led by both the talented Rosina Wachtmeister and her grandson Giovanni Battista.

Before we go into details regarding this wonderful opportunity we would like to give you some background on experiential or learning holidays:

  • Experiential holidays allow you to connect to the local culture which oftentimes isn’t the case with tourists

  • You will have the opportunity to meet other participants in the program

  • You will enhance your existing pottery or ceramic making skills or perhaps just learn a new skill from the experts themselves (if you are a newbie)!

  • What better place to learn about art than in Italy ?

  • Participation in the program also allows you to explore Rome

Capena is located just 35 kilometers north of Rome

  • A *half-board 30 hour Raku pottery and ceramic course is led by Giovanni Battista Rea

  • Breakfast and lunch is to be served with the group and prepared by our Italian chef Sandro .  Our kitchen is at your disposal to prepare coffee and light food or snacks for yourself.

  • For dinner you are free to dine at the local area restaurants all within easy walking distance or if you prefer you have the option of cooking  at home as well.

  • Accommodations are available courtesy of Casa Angelina, Casa Galilei & Rocca and Casa Marconi.

  • At the end of the course, you have the option of spending 2 days relaxing in Capena and visit Rome (via public transportation) or take advantage of an extra 2 nights stay in Rome at Gli Artisti B&B with a tour of the Vatican!

 Pottery & Ceramics Course

  • The process of achieving the unique look of Japanese Raku pottery is made by using smoke and fire in the Raku kiln. Unlike the normal pottery firing process where the wares cool down slowly in the kiln and removed with gloves, Raku is removed immediately using tongs.

  • During the course you will be able to create and display your own pieces using all the materials provided.

*Half board refers to provision of bed, breakfast, and one main meal.
